Welcome to Glossop Chiropody
|
|
The terms Chiropody and Podiatry essentially mean the same thing, the study, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders and disease of the foot and lower leg. Our feet are under extreme pressures throughout our lives, from the development and growth of infant feet preparing to take those first wobbly steps to childhood adventures via those sensible shoes we are told to wear at school, and finally to adulthood and the many years of good service we entrust to our overworked feet and ankles.

Glossop Chiropody and Podiatry is under the charge of Shaun Mooney D.POD.M, M.Ch.S, H.P.C.reg, who has 18 years experience in Chiropody and is a dedicated foot care specialist in Glossop and the wider Derbyshire area. Home visits are available.
Certain foot conditions arise as a result of the daily pressures exerted on our feet, corns and callouses being a prime example. Other common conditions are the result of infection, such as warts, or verrucas, that scourge of the local swimming pool.
Treatment of these conditions are certainly within the remit of Glossop Chiropody and Podiatry and form just the start of the services available.

An ingrown toenail is a painful condition which can be treated as part of a nail care and nail surgery procedures within Glossop Chiropody & Podiatry, and all the right advice will be given on the continued maintenance of healthy nails to avoid future problems.
Certain medical conditions can also result in foot problems. These can include Diabetes, which can have a range of complications for feet, which need regular checks and treatment before symptoms become more serious. Rheumatoid Arthritis also affects the joints and movement of the ankles and feet and often regular treatment and advice is required to enable a better quality of life.
